Nov 09, 2025In a landmark achievement for Indian polo, Team India defeated world No. 1 Argentina 10–9 in a thrilling final to lift the 2025 KogniVera International Polo Cup at the Jaipur Polo Ground on Sunday. The victory marks a momentous comeback for the sport in its country of origin and showcases India’s growing prowess on the international polo stage.
Led by Sawai Padmanabh Singh and Captain Simran Singh Shergill, the Indian team displayed outstanding skill, coordination, and tactical mastery to edge past the Argentine side, which has long dominated global polo. The tightly contested encounter kept spectators on edge until the final chukker, when India secured its decisive one-goal lead.
Though polo has a proud legacy in India, the sport has faced multiple challenges in recent decades — including a decline in clubs, limited sponsorship, and high operational costs.
