PM Modi Flags Off Four New Vande Bharat Express Trains from Varanasi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday flagged off four new Vande Bharat Express trains, underscoring India’s rapid strides in railway modernization and connectivity. The launch took place at the Varanasi Railway Station, where the Prime Minister inaugurated the Banaras–Khajuraho Vande Bharat Express in person and virtually flagged off three other routes — Lucknow–Saharanpur, Firozpur–Delhi, and Ernakulam–Bengaluru.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Modi said that trains such as Vande Bharat, Namo Bharat, and Amrit Bharat represent the next generation of Indian Railways, laying a strong foundation for a modern, high-speed, and passenger-friendly transport network. He noted that over 160 Vande Bharat trains are now operational across the country and congratulated citizens on this achievement.

The Prime Minister highlighted that improved connectivity is a major driver of regional development. “A city begins to develop on its own when it gets better connectivity,” he remarked, adding that robust infrastructure is a cornerstone of the economic growth seen in developed nations. “India too is moving swiftly on the path of development,” he said.

Mr. Modi also pointed out that the modernization of Indian Railways has impressed even foreign tourists, who are increasingly recognizing the transformation in the country’s transport sector.

Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were present at the event.
