Nagaland to Set Up Old Age Homes in Every District

In a significant move aimed at improving the welfare of senior citizens, the Nagaland government has announced plans to establish Old Age Homes in every district of the state.

Advisor for Social Welfare, Wangpang Konyak, made the announcement while addressing an Eye Camp for Senior Citizens at the District Hospital, Mon, on Thursday. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to uplifting vulnerable sections of society, particularly the elderly, by providing social assistance, ensuring nutritional support, and protecting those at risk.

Konyak also highlighted several government initiatives such as the Old Age Pension Scheme, the Elderly Helpline, and the Charity Care programme, all aimed at enhancing the quality of life for older citizens.

The event was jointly organised by the Department of Social Welfare and Mercy Eye Centre, Dimapur, with support from the District Hospital, Mon. The eye camp provided much-needed healthcare services to senior citizens, reflecting the government’s broader focus on inclusive social welfare.
