India’s young cricket stars Jemimah Rodrigues and Deepti Sharma have achieved significant gains in the latest ICC Women’s ODI rankings, following their exceptional performances during India’s historic World Cup victory over South Africa in Mumbai.
Jemimah Rodrigues has broken into the top 10 batters for the first time in her career, thanks to her match-winning century against Australia in the semi-final — a defining knock that helped secure India’s place in the final.
Deepti Sharma, who was named Player of the Tournament, climbed to fourth place among all-rounders after her stellar all-round performances in the knockout stages. She took seven wickets and played several crucial innings, contributing significantly to India’s World Cup success.
However, Smriti Mandhana slipped to the second spot in the batting rankings as South Africa’s captain Laura Wolvaardt moved to number one following her record-breaking World Cup campaign.
In another positive development for Indian cricket, young fast bowler Shree Charani jumped seven places to reach the 23rd position in the bowlers’ rankings, reflecting India’s growing strength and depth in women’s cricket.
