Tripura Medical College Gets 50 More MBBS Seats; State’s Total Reaches 450

In a major boost to medical education in Tripura, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved 50 additional MBBS seats for Tripura Medical College and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Memorial Hospital, Agartala.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha shared the news on Tuesday through his social media handle, describing it as “another great step forward for medical education aspirants in the state.”
With this latest sanction, the intake capacity at Tripura Medical College has risen from 100 to 150 seats, taking the total number of MBBS seats in Tripura to 450.
Dr. Saha noted that over the past three years, the state has recorded a net increase of 225 MBBS seats, reflecting the government’s commitment to strengthening both medical education and healthcare infrastructure in Tripura.
“This is a remarkable milestone in our continuous efforts to enhance healthcare accessibility and academic excellence in the state,” the Chief Minister said.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, Dr. Saha thanked them for their “unwavering support and guidance in advancing Tripura’s health sector.”
