PM Modi Inaugurates New Chhattisgarh Assembly Building, Unveils Statue of Atal Bihari Vajpayee

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the newly constructed building of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly in Nava Raipur, describing it as a reflection of the state’s rich cultural heritage and a new symbol of India’s democratic spirit.

During the ceremony, the Prime Minister also unveiled a statue of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, honouring his contributions to nation-building and his vision for a modern India.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Modi said the new Assembly building embodies the idea of preserving India’s heritage while advancing towards modern development. “This spirit of combining tradition with progress is visible in every decision and policy of the Central Government,” he said. He added that the new Assembly stands as a pillar of democracy, where decisions taken will guide the destiny of Chhattisgarh for decades to come.

As part of his one-day visit to Raipur, the Prime Minister also inaugurated the Shanti Shikhar of the Brahma Kumaris in Nava Raipur — a state-of-the-art centre for spiritual learning, peace, and meditation. Commending the organisation’s work, Mr. Modi said, “Institutions like the Brahma Kumaris play an important role in building a better society. They believe in less talk and more service.” He expressed confidence that the new centre would emerge as a major platform for global peace initiatives in the future.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister visited the Shri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital in Nava Raipur, where he interacted with around 2,500 children who had received free treatment for congenital heart diseases under the “Dil Ki Baat” initiative. Mr. Modi presented “Gift of Life” certificates to the children and praised the hospital for its humanitarian service.

Later, the Prime Minister was scheduled to inaugurate and visit the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Memorial and the Tribal Freedom Fighters’ Museum in Nava Raipur. He also took part in the Silver Jubilee celebrations marking 25 years of the formation of Chhattisgarh.

On the occasion, Mr. Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for a series of development projects worth over ₹14,000 crore, covering sectors such as roads, industry, healthcare, and energy. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to balanced regional growth, stating that “the development of the nation is linked to the development of its states.”
