PM Modi Leads Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Celebrations at Ekta Nagar, Pays Tribute to Sardar Patel

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid floral tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the Statue of Unity and led the nation in celebrating Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), marking the 150th birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India.

Addressing a large gathering at Ekta Nagar, Prime Minister Modi called upon citizens to unite and dedicate themselves to the nation’s progress to realize the vision of “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India).

Highlighting the government’s achievements over the past decade, the Prime Minister said that since 2014, India has delivered a decisive blow to Naxalism and Maoist terrorism. He noted that nearly 100 districts were once affected by Maoist activities, but today the number has reduced to just 11, with only three districts remaining seriously impacted.

The Prime Minister underlined the importance of national unity, emphasizing that every citizen must reject divisive thoughts and actions. He said that the unity of the nation is its greatest strength and the need of the hour.

Recalling Sardar Patel’s monumental contribution to the nation, Mr. Modi said that after Independence, Patel achieved the seemingly impossible task of uniting over 550 princely states, embodying the vision of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” (One India, Great India).

Speaking about India’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage, the Prime Minister said that the Dwadash Jyotirlingas, Shaktipeeths, and Char Dhams represent the life force that binds the nation together. He also praised India’s linguistic diversity, calling it one of the country’s greatest strengths and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to the promotion and preservation of all Indian languages.

Highlighting the government’s focus on inclusive growth, Mr. Modi stated that 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty in the past decade. He credited transparent governance, rapid infrastructure development, and corruption-free policies for connecting people’s hearts and fostering unity across the nation.

The Prime Minister began the day by offering floral tributes at the Statue of Unity and administering the Ekta Diwas pledge to reaffirm collective commitment toward national integration.

The celebrations featured a grand parade showcasing contingents from the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and various state police forces. Ten vibrant tableaux depicting the theme “Unity in Diversity” were displayed, followed by a spectacular air show by the Indian Air Force’s ‘Surya Kiran’ aerobatic team, which painted the skies in the colours of the tricolour.

Concluding his address, Prime Minister Modi urged citizens to make unity the mantra of national strength and to draw inspiration from Sardar Patel’s life and vision to build a strong, developed, and united India.
