Markets End in Red: Sensex Slips 593 Points, Nifty Settles Below 25,900

Extending early losses, Indian equity markets ended Thursday’s session on a weak note, dragged down by selling pressure across major sectors. Both benchmark indices — the Sensex and the Nifty — declined nearly 0.7 per cent amid subdued global cues and profit booking.

The BSE Sensex tumbled 593 points to close at 84,404, while the NSE Nifty 50 slipped 176 points to settle at 25,878. The benchmarks opened lower and remained in negative territory throughout the day, reflecting cautious investor sentiment.

In the broader markets, performance was relatively steady. The BSE Mid-Cap Index ended unchanged, while the Small-Cap Index closed marginally lower, showing a slight negative bias.
