Tripura observes World Stroke Day

On the occasion of World Stroke Day, neurologist Dr. Abir Lal Nath urged people not to delay when someone shows symptoms of a stroke and to take them to a doctor immediately.

Speaking during an awareness rally organized by Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GBP Hospital, Dr. Nath said that recognizing early signs of stroke and ensuring quick medical attention can save lives and prevent long-term disability.

He added that awareness about the symptoms of stroke is crucial and that such rallies aim to educate the public about identifying them promptly. Dr. Nath also highlighted the services available at the Neurology Department of GBP Hospital, stating that comprehensive stroke treatment is now available at the state’s premier referral hospital.

He encouraged people to seek timely consultation from the hospital’s neurology specialists for any stroke-related emergencies.

The rally started from Rabindra Bhavan in the heart of the city, moved through various streets of Agartala, and concluded at the starting point. It saw participation from doctors, nurses, health workers, and medical students of GBP Hospital.

Organizers said the main objective of the rally was to spread awareness among the general public about stroke symptoms, prevention, and timely treatment, emphasizing that early intervention can significantly reduce stroke-related deaths and disabilities.
