Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held a telephonic conversation with his Japanese counterpart, Sanae Takaichi, congratulating her on assuming office and reaffirming India’s commitment to deepening ties with Japan.
During their discussion, the two leaders reviewed the progress of the India–Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership and exchanged views on advancing cooperation in key areas such as economic security, defence collaboration, and talent mobility.
Prime Minister Modi emphasized that India and Japan share a common vision for peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond. He underscored that a stronger partnership between the two nations would play a vital role in ensuring global stability and sustainable growth.
In a post on social media, Mr. Modi said both leaders agreed that enhancing India–Japan relations is essential for promoting global peace, stability, and prosperity.
Sanae Takaichi recently became Japan’s first female prime minister in nearly two decades, succeeding Fumio Kishida. Her conversation with Mr. Modi marks an early affirmation of the deep strategic trust and cooperation that define India–Japan relations.
