Oct 28, 2025
Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Monday reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to building a self-reliant Tripura by strengthening agricultural infrastructure and ensuring employment opportunities for every household.
The Minister made these remarks while inaugurating a newly constructed multi-storied office complex housing both the Agriculture and Horticulture Departments under one roof at Udaipur, along with the Rajarbag Primary Rural Market.
Highlighting the government’s development efforts, Nath said, “Our mission is to make Tripura self-reliant and ensure that every family has at least one source of employment. We may not be able to provide government jobs to all, but we can certainly create opportunities.”
The Minister informed that the government has invested Rs 9 crore for the multi-storied departmental office and Rs 2.27 crore for developing the Primary Rural Market. He emphasized that upgrading agricultural markets is vital to achieve self-sufficiency, as they play a crucial role in connecting farmers to consumers.
“Before 2018, only Rs 20 crore was spent on agriculture markets, but in the past seven years, this government has invested ₹303 crore, and most markets are now complete,” Nath said.
He lauded Gomati District for being recognized as the state’s best-performing district and called for continued joint efforts between the central and state governments for holistic rural development.
Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, MLAs Rampada Jamatia, Jitendra Majumder, Abhishek Debroy, Sanjoy Manik Tripura, Pathan Lal Jamatia, and Ranjit Das were also present at the inaugural event.
