Pakistan Withdraws from Men’s Junior Hockey World Cup in India
Oct 25, 2025
The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has officially notified the International Hockey Federation (FIH) that the national junior men’s team will not travel to India to participate in the upcoming Men’s Junior Hockey World Cup, scheduled to be held in Tamil Nadu this November.
According to PHF officials, the decision was made on the advice of the Government of Pakistan. The FIH had already delayed the draw for the tournament—set to take place in Chennai and Madurai—for nearly a month, to allow Pakistan time to finalize its stance on participation.
With Pakistan’s withdrawal confirmed, the FIH is expected to announce a replacement team soon. However, the inclusion of a lower-ranked side at this late stage means that the new entrant will likely be less prepared for the high-profile junior competition.
This is the second consecutive event in India that Pakistan has opted out of, following its earlier withdrawal from the Men’s Asia Cup in Rajgir, Bihar.
