In a social media message, the Prime Minister praised the unwavering devotion of all vratis (devotees who observe the fast) and highlighted the deep cultural and spiritual significance of the four-day festival. He said the growing global recognition of Chhath reflects the strong cultural roots and shared faith of Indian communities around the world, who celebrate the festival with great enthusiasm and devotion.

Mr. Modi also shared a devotional song dedicated to Chhathi Maiya, inviting everyone to immerse themselves in its spiritual resonance. Extending his heartfelt wishes, he prayed that Chhathi Maiya bestows her abundant blessings upon all devotees.

Emphasizing the festival’s connection with nature, Mr. Modi said that Chhath Mahaparv represents a unique confluence of faith, worship, and environmental reverence. He noted that offerings (arghya) made to the setting and rising Sun reflect gratitude towards nature, while the prasad and songs associated with Chhath embody the colors, melodies, and devotion that define India’s rich cultural heritage.
