Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Thursday chaired the 3rd meeting of the High-Level Task Force formed to promote investment in the North Eastern states. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya Scindia.

Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada, Union Minister of State for DoNER Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister T.R. Zeliang, and Meghalaya Minister for Public Health Engineering Marcuise Marak, among others attended the virtual meeting.

At the Tripura Institution for Transformation (TIT) conference hall, senior state officials including Secretary of General Administration (Good Governance) Kiran Gitte, Chief Minister’s Secretary Dr. P.K. Chakraborty, and Planning Secretary L.T. Darlong were present.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha presented the draft report prepared by the Task Force outlining strategic policy recommendations to promote investment across the North Eastern region. The draft proposes a roadmap to transform the North East into India’s “Green Industrial Hub” and an “Eastern Start-up Corridor,” emphasizing infrastructure connectivity, investment facilitation, and harmonized policy coordination across the region.

The preparation of this draft report was jointly entrusted to the Tripura Institution for Transformation and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kolkata.

Union DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia lauded the meticulous groundwork, systematic approach, and foresight of the draft report, commending the leadership of Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha and the state government’s collaborative planning. The report highlights extensive stakeholder consultations, identification of key thrust sectors, and strategies for stable and inclusive industrial growth.

The draft further proposes the establishment of the Unified North East Investment Authority, North East Connectivity and Logistics Authority, and North East Industrial Free Trade Authority to enhance investment coordination, logistics integration, and inter-state synergy.

Minister Scindia emphasized that the combined strength of the North Eastern states, along with strong Central support, will position the region as a major investment destination in line with India’s Act East Policy and the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
