Vishvajit More Wins Bronze at U-23 Wrestling World Championships in Serbia

Indian wrestler Vishvajit More opened India’s medal tally at the Under-23 Wrestling World Championships 2025 by clinching a bronze medal in the 55 kg Greco-Roman category on Wednesday.
In a tightly contested bout, more edged past Yerassyl Mmayrbekov of Kazakhstan with a 5–4 victory to secure the podium finish. The triumph marks a significant achievement for the young wrestler and adds to India’s growing presence in international Greco-Roman wrestling.
On the other hand, India faced setbacks in the women’s division as Hanny Kumari, Diksha Malik, and Priya Malik bowed out in their respective first-round matches.
A contingent of 29 Indian wrestlers is representing the country at the prestigious championship, which is being held in Novi Sad, Serbia, until October 27. The tournament has drawn around 700 participants from across the globe, showcasing emerging wrestling talent from various nations.
