Amit Shah Lays Foundation Stone for Six-Lane Shantipura–Khoraj GIDC Road in Sanand

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the six-lane Shantipura–Khoraj GIDC road in Sanand, Ahmedabad. The ceremony was attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and other senior officials.

The proposed road, spanning 28.8 kilometres, will be developed under the Gujarat State Road Development Corporation (GSRDC). The project includes the widening of service roads on both-sides, construction of 13 bridges, and a six-lane high bridge, aimed at easing the growing traffic pressure in the industrial area.

Officials said that with more than 43,000 vehicles passing through this stretch daily, the existing four-lane road has become inadequate to handle the traffic volume. Upgrading it to a six-lane road is expected to significantly reduce congestion and improve connectivity for industries and commuters in Sanand and surrounding areas.

As part of the project, five new underpasses will also be constructed at Ularia, Telav, Sanand GIDC, and Khoraj GIDC, facilitating smoother and safer movement of vehicles.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Shah said the new infrastructure will boost industrial development in Sanand, which has emerged as one of Gujarat’s leading manufacturing hubs. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also emphasized the state government’s commitment to expanding road infrastructure to support economic growth.

On this occasion, Mr. Shah and Mr. Patel met residents of Sanand and extended their New Year greetings.
