CM Dr. Manik Saha Meets PM Modi


Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday to discuss several critical issues concerning the state’s development. The meeting focused on aligning Tripura’s progress with the national vision of Viksit Bharat and furthering the goal of a Viksit Tripura.

During the meeting, Dr. Saha apprised the Prime Minister of the state government’s ongoing developmental initiatives and sought central support for a number of key proposals aimed at boosting infrastructure, welfare, and sustainable growth in Tripura.

The Chief Minister raised the following major points for consideration: Inclusion of the Bru-Reang community under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) to ensure food security and welfare benefits for the displaced tribal population. Increase in wheat allocation under the Public Distribution System (PDS) to meet the growing demand of beneficiaries. Double-laning of railway tracks in Tripura, which is essential for improving connectivity and economic activities in the region. Introduction of a Vande Bharat Express train from Agartala to Guwahati, which would significantly reduce travel time and enhance regional connectivity. Enhancement of the ceiling limit for Externally Aided Projects (EAPs), enabling Tripura to undertake larger developmental projects with international assistance. Sanctioning of 15 new Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) to strengthen education among tribal students. Setting up of an Agar Board and a dedicated research centre to support and regulate the state’s growing agarwood industry. Sustainable development of the Unakoti heritage site, with a focus on preservation and promotion of its historical and cultural significance.

Dr. Saha expressed confidence that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Modi, Tripura is making rapid strides toward inclusive and sustainable development. He emphasized the state’s commitment to contributing actively to the national mission of building a developed India by 2047.
