Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha met Union Health Minister and BJP National President JP Nadda in New Delhi on Tuesday to discuss a series of key proposals aimed at enhancing the healthcare infrastructure and services in the state.

During the meeting, Dr. Saha presented several important initiatives, with a focus on expanding medical education, improving tertiary healthcare, and strengthening organ transplant capabilities. A major highlight of the discussion was the proposal to establish a new Medical College at Kulai in Dhalai district, which is classified as an Aspirational District. The project is proposed to be developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, aimed at improving access to quality medical education and services in the region.

The Chief Minister also sought support for the establishment of a Tertiary Ophthalmology Hospital in Agartala, which would cater to the growing need for advanced eye care services in the state.

In a bid to enhance organ transplant services, Dr. Saha proposed the creation of an Immunology Laboratory at the Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GBP Hospital. This lab would serve as a critical component in facilitating and supporting organ transplantation procedures in the state.

Further, the Chief Minister requested central assistance for the procurement of advanced medical equipment at the Super Speciality Block of AGMC, with the goal of strengthening critical care and diagnostic services.

Additionally, Dr. Saha urged the Union Health Minister to release additional funds under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) to help settle pending claims and ensure uninterrupted delivery of health benefits to beneficiaries.

Dr. Saha expressed his gratitude to the Union Minister for his continued support and reiterated the state government’s commitment to transforming Tripura’s healthcare landscape.
