CM Dr Manik Saha meets Union FM; seeks higher EAP ceiling

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Monday met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi to discuss key developmental issues concerning the state, with a special focus on the need to enhance the ceiling limit of Externally Aided Projects (EAPs).

During the meeting, Dr. Saha apprised the Finance Minister that several crucial projects under the departments of Urban Development, Tourism, and the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) are facing delays due to the current ceiling restriction imposed on EAPs. He emphasized that the enhancement of this ceiling is essential for accelerating project implementation and ensuring timely completion of important infrastructure and urban development initiatives.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the state has been actively pursuing various externally aided initiatives to strengthen its urban infrastructure, promote tourism, and improve civic amenities in Agartala and other urban areas. However, the existing ceiling limit has posed challenges in mobilizing necessary funds from external agencies, thereby slowing down project execution.

Dr. Saha urged the Union Finance Minister to consider Tripura’s request for revising the ceiling upward, citing the state’s growing developmental needs and the importance of external assistance in supplementing state resources.

The meeting is seen as a significant step towards unlocking additional financial avenues for Tripura’s ongoing and proposed projects, particularly in the sectors of urban development, tourism infrastructure, and municipal governance.
