Fugitive Pakistani Drug Convict Nabbed in Tripura after Dramatic Escape from Nepal Jail

In a dramatic turn of events, a 50-year-old Pakistani woman who escaped from a Nepalese prison has been arrested by railway police at Sabroom railway station in South Tripura.

The woman, initially identifying herself as Saheena Parveen from Delhi, was detained after arriving on the Kanchenjunga Express from Kolkata. Her suspicious behaviour alerted the authorities, and upon failing to provide valid identification, a search of her belongings led police to uncover contact numbers linked to Pakistan.

Under interrogation, she confessed her real identity as Louis Nighat Akhtar Bhano, wife of Mohammad Golaf Faraj, and a resident of Younganabad, Chak No. 371, District Sheikhupura, Pakistan. Bhano revealed she had moved to Nepal 12 years ago using a Pakistani passport and later became involved in drug trafficking.

In 2014, she was arrested in Kathmandu with one kilogram of brown sugar and sentenced to 15 years in prison. However, she reportedly escaped custody last month during a period of civil unrest in Nepal.

Following her escape, Bhano illegally crossed into India through Bangladesh with the help of local agents. She then travelled to Delhi, where she worked as a domestic help under a false identity. After failing to secure a return route to Pakistan via West Bengal, she made her way to Tripura, intending to cross back into Bangladesh through Sabroom.

Authorities are now investigating the full extent of her illegal movements and contacts across multiple countries. She remains in custody and is expected to face charges under Indian immigration and national security laws.
