In a landmark move set to reshape India’s agricultural and allied sectors, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched and laid the foundation stones for multiple transformative projects worth ₹42,000 crore. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha virtually witnessed the historic event from the State Agriculture Research Station (SARS) at AD Nagar, Agartala.

The launch coincided with the birth anniversaries of Bharat Ratna Jayprakash Narayan Ji and social reformer Nanaji Deshmukh, underlining the government’s commitment to rural upliftment and sustainable agricultural development.

Among the key initiatives unveiled were: PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana  Rs 24,000 crore and Dalhan Aatmanirbharta Mission Rs 11,440 crore.

These schemes are aimed at empowering farmers, increasing agricultural productivity, promoting crop diversification, encouraging sustainable practices, and ensuring easier access to both short- and long-term agricultural credit. The projects will be implemented in 100 selected districts across the country, including North Tripura.

Tripura’s Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath, along with other senior officials, was present at the SARS venue for the virtual event.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Manik Saha highlighted the significance of these initiatives for the state’s farming community, stating that they will “play a vital role in transforming the agricultural landscape of Tripura and improving the standard of living for thousands of farmer families.”

The initiatives are expected to provide a major boost to India’s agri-economy, ensuring better income, increased resilience, and sustainable growth for farmers across the country.
