Minister Sushanta Chowdhury distributes free festive ration under Sharadotsav 2025 Scheme

In a bid to ensure inclusive celebrations during the festive season, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Sushanta Chowdhury, on Wednesday launched the Sharadotsav 2025 Scheme, providing free festive ration to economically vulnerable families.

The scheme was officially inaugurated at Fair Price Shop No. 148 in the Milan Chakra area of Agartala, where Minister Chowdhury personally handed over ration items to beneficiaries.

Under the scheme, each ration card-holding household will receive a festive ration package comprising 2 kilograms of flour, 1 kilogram of sugar, and 500 grams of semolina, completely free of cost.

Speaking at the event, the Minister said, "Sharadotsav is a time of joy and togetherness. Through this initiative, we want every household—especially those who rely on ration support—to feel included in the celebrations. This is not just about food, it's about dignity and festive spirit."

According to government estimates, nearly 9.90 lakh ration card-holding families across the state are expected to benefit from the initiative. The Tripura government has allocated Rs 7 crore to implement the scheme and ensure smooth distribution ahead of the festivities.
