UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to Visit Yash Raj Films Studios During Mumbai Trip on October 8

United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer, currently on a two-day official visit to India, will pay a special visit to Mumbai's iconic Yash Raj Films (YRF) Studios on Wednesday, October 8, as part of his wider cultural and business outreach.
The visit was confirmed by Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, during the silver jubilee edition of FICCI Frames 2025 held in Mumbai on October 7. Starmer’s stop at YRF Studios, located in the suburb of Andheri, underscores growing cultural cooperation between India and the UK.
The UK Prime Minister is in India at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During his visit to the financial capital, Starmer will also attend the Global Fintech Fest at the Bandra-Kurla Complex alongside PM Modi, who is scheduled to inaugurate two major infrastructure projects earlier in the day — the Navi Mumbai International Airport and Phase 3 of the underground Mumbai Metro Line 3.
The YRF Studios visit adds a cultural dimension to what is otherwise a diplomatically and economically significant trip. Starmer is leading what UK officials have described as the "largest-ever UK business delegation to India", aimed at strengthening bilateral trade, technology partnerships, and creative industry ties.
While details of the YRF Studios engagement remain under wraps, the move is being viewed as symbolic of the UK’s intent to deepen cultural collaboration with India’s thriving film and entertainment sector — popularly known as Bollywood.
This is Keir Starmer’s first official visit to India since becoming Prime Minister, and it comes on the heels of progress in the UK–India free trade agreement negotiations and broader cooperation under the India–UK 2035 Roadmap.
