PM Modi Inaugurates 9th India Mobile Congress 2025, Asia’s Largest Digital Technology Event
Oct 08, 2025Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the 9th edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025, Asia’s largest digital technology, telecom, and media event, at Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in New Delhi.
In his address, Prime Minister Modi highlighted India's remarkable progress in the telecommunications sector, attributing it to the government's vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India). He noted that the country, which once struggled during the 2G era, now enjoys widespread 5G coverage across nearly every district.
“Digital connectivity in India is no longer a privilege or luxury—it has become an essential part of every citizen’s life,” the Prime Minister said.
He emphasized that the India Mobile Congress has evolved beyond its original focus on mobile and telecom technologies to become Asia’s premier digital technology platform. The event now serves as a global stage for innovation, collaboration, and showcasing emerging technologies.
A key highlight of the Prime Minister’s speech was the announcement of the successful launch of the Made-in-India 4G Stack, a fully indigenous telecom solution, which he described as a major technological milestone.
“This is the best time to invest, innovate, and manufacture in India,” PM Modi said, inviting global stakeholders to tap into the country’s rapidly expanding digital ecosystem.
India, he noted, has emerged as the world’s second-largest telecom market and the second-largest 5G market, reflecting the country’s growing influence in global digital innovation.
The four-day India Mobile Congress 2025 brings together over 400 companies, more than 1.5 lakh visitors, and participants from over 150 countries. The event features exhibitions and discussions on a range of cutting-edge technologies, including Optical Communications, Semiconductors in Telecom, Quantum Communications, and 6G.
Themed “Innovate to Transform,” this year’s edition underscores India’s commitment to driving digital transformation and societal progress through innovation.
