BJP MP Khagen Murmu, MLA Shankar Ghosh Attacked in Flood-Hit Bengal; Biplab Deb Blames TMC-Backed Miscreants

Tensions flared in North Bengal on Tuesday after BJP MP Khagen Murmu and MLA Shankar Ghosh were allegedly attacked by miscreants during their visit to flood-affected areas. The leaders were in the region to assess the damage and extend support to affected residents when the incident occurred.
Following the attack, MP Biplab Kumar Deb visited the injured leaders to inquire about their health and strongly condemned the violence. Taking to social media, Deb squarely blamed the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) for orchestrating the assault, alleging that the attackers were backed by the party.
In a scathing post, Deb wrote, “BJP MP Khagen Murmu and MLA Shankar Ghosh were attacked by miscreants backed by the Trinamool Congress while they were visiting flood-affected areas of North Bengal to help distressed people. Sensing the loss of public trust and an impending defeat, Mamata Banerjee has turned the administrative machinery into a party-controlled system, using terror, violence, and bloodshed as her political weapons.”
He further accused the TMC government of eroding democratic values in the state, branding the current administration a “Mamata-less Mamata regime.”
“Having realized that the people are no longer with her, the Trinamool-backed goons are being unleashed to stifle democracy and suppress dissent through violence and fear,” Deb added.
The BJP has demanded a high-level probe into the incident and called on the West Bengal government to ensure the safety of public representatives, regardless of their political affiliation.
