Tripura Youth Icons Felicitated by President for Driving Grassroots Change
Oct 07, 2025Bringing national recognition to Tripura, Shyamal Dey and Anupam Das have been honoured with the prestigious MY Bharat NSS Award 2022–23 by President Droupadi Murmu for their outstanding contributions to community service under the National Service Scheme (NSS).
Shyamal Dey, NSS Programme Officer at Bani Vidyapith Higher Secondary Girls’ School, and Anupam Das, a volunteer from Ramthakur College, led numerous impactful initiatives that touched lives across the state. Their team planted over 1,125 trees and organized blood donation drives collecting 51 units, while also spearheading health and environmental awareness campaigns.
Their efforts included mobilizing communities for Pulse Polio immunization, promoting voter education, advancing digital literacy, and encouraging participation in the Cashless India movement — all with a strong emphasis on grassroots engagement and youth leadership.
Tripura's Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Tinku Roy, lauded the duo, stating that their achievement is not only a personal milestone but a moment of pride for the entire state. He described their service as a shining example of dedication, responsibility, and compassion.
