Election Commission Holds High-Level Meetings to Ensure Free and Peaceful Assembly Elections in Bihar

In a significant step towards ensuring free, fair, and peaceful Assembly elections in Bihar, the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Sunday held a series of high-level meetings with senior officials from various enforcement agencies, police forces, and administrative departments in Patna.

The ECI team, led by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, conducted detailed discussions with representatives from the Income Tax Department, Enforcement Directorate, Customs, Narcotics Control Bureau, Railways, Banks, and other enforcement bodies. The focus of the meeting was on curbing the use of black money, illegal liquor, and narcotics during the election period.

The Commission also reviewed law and order preparedness, trans-border security, and the coordination mechanism between the state police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), especially in districts bordering neighboring countries.

Officials discussed strategies for increased surveillance and coordination to prevent any disruptions to the electoral process and to ensure strict enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct.

In the concluding phase of the visit, the CEC is scheduled to hold a high-level review meeting with the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police (DGP), and the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Bihar. The meeting will assess overall election preparedness and address any remaining challenges ahead of the upcoming polls.
