A new chapter was written in the history of language on Tuesday as the meeting of the Chakma Language Development Advisory Committee was held, where it was decided to form a committee to study the feasibility of including Chakma script in Google Translation.
Minister Ratan Lal Nath, who chaired the meeting, said that the meeting decided to form seven sub-committees, take steps to include the Chakma script in Google Translation, organize a national seminar, and observe August 7 as “Chakma Script and Language Day.”
“The panel decided to include words of the Chakma language in the Google translation platform so that the content in the tribal language can be converted into English, Hindi and Bengali,” the minister said.
For this purpose, the committee has already collected 50,000 words of the Chakma language, and 50,000 more will be identified shortly, he said.
