In a significant push to boost spiritual tourism in the state, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha visited the holy site at Matabari on Sunday to inspect the final stages of the ambitious redevelopment of the Tripura Sundari Temple, one of the 51 revered Shakti Peethas in India.
Accompanied by Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, several Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), and senior government officials, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of the ongoing infrastructure and beautification work being carried out under the PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive) scheme of the Central Government.
During his visit, CM Saha offered prayers and sought the blessings of Goddess Tripura Sundari, emphasizing the spiritual and cultural significance of the temple to the people of the state.
“The redevelopment of this sacred site is a proud moment for Tripura. It will not only improve facilities for pilgrims but also highlight our rich cultural heritage on a national and global platform,” he stated during the inspection.
The project, now in its final phase, includes upgrades to pilgrim amenities, beautification of the temple surroundings, and improved infrastructure to accommodate the growing number of devotees and tourists. Once completed, the transformed temple complex is expected to significantly increase footfall, boosting local economies and further establishing Tripura as a key spiritual tourism destination in India.
Located in Udaipur, the Tripura Sundari Temple holds deep religious importance and is a cornerstone of the state’s identity. The ongoing transformation is being hailed as a historic step toward preserving its legacy while preparing it for a modern influx of visitors.
