With the festive season fast approaching, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha chaired a high-level review meeting on Saturday to assess the current state of traffic management in Agartala. The meeting was convened to ensure smooth vehicular movement and public safety during Durga Puja, one of the state's most widely celebrated festivals.
During the meeting, senior officials from the traffic police, transport department, and urban development authorities presented an overview of the existing traffic challenges in the city. The Chief Minister took stock of the situation and stressed the urgent need for coordinated and proactive measures to address recurring congestion issues.
Emphasizing the importance of efficient traffic regulation during the festive season, CM Saha directed the concerned departments to identify key problem areas and implement corrective steps well in advance. These include regulating vehicle flow in congested zones, ensuring proper parking arrangements, deploying adequate traffic personnel, and enhancing public awareness on road safety.
“Durga Puja witnesses a significant surge in public movement and vehicular traffic across Agartala. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that citizens can celebrate the festival without facing unnecessary hassles on the roads,” the Chief Minister stated.
He also called for inter-departmental coordination and urged officials to adopt modern traffic monitoring tools where necessary. Special instructions were issued to ensure that emergency services remain unobstructed and that public transport services run smoothly during peak hours.
