Minister Sushanta Chowdhury attends 19th AGM of Indian Building Congress


Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport and Tourism, Sushanta Chowdhury, on Sunday attended the 19th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Indian Building Congress (IBC), Tripura Centre, held at the Conference Hall of the Public Works Department (PWD) at Netaji Chowmuhani, Agartala.

The event was jointly organized by the Indian Building Congress (IBC) in collaboration with the PWD, Department of Rural Development, and the Urban Development Department of the Government of Tripura.

As part of the event, a regional seminar was conducted on the theme: “Environmental Hazard on Buildings and Its Living Conditions and Its Remedial Measures to Combat Such Threats in the 21st Century.”

During his address, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury extended his best wishes for the continued success of the Indian Building Congress and praised its efforts in promoting awareness around sustainable building practices. He emphasized the urgent need to address environmental hazards in construction and residential planning, especially in the context of increasing climate-related challenges and rapid urbanization.

“Sustainable and resilient infrastructure is the need of the hour. We must work collectively to ensure that our buildings are not just structurally sound but also environmentally responsible,” the Minister said.

The seminar witnessed the participation of engineers, architects, urban planners, policymakers, and officials from multiple departments, who deliberated on key issues such as structural safety, climate resilience, urban planning, and green construction techniques.
