Prof. Shyamal Das appointed interim Vice-Chancellor of Tripura University

Prof. Shyamal Das, the senior-most professor in the Department of English at Tripura University, has been appointed as the interim Vice-Chancellor of the university. The appointment was confirmed through an official notification issued by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, on August 21.
The decision was approved by the President of India, who serves as the Visitor of the university, following the completion of the tenure of former Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ganga Prasad Prasain.
According to the notification, Prof. Das will hold the charge for a period of one year or until a regular Vice-Chancellor is appointed, or until further orders — whichever occurs first.
“In pursuance of the letter from the Ministry of Education, Government of India, dated August 21, Prof. Shyamal Das, senior-most professor in the Department of English, Tripura University, is assigned the temporary charge of Vice-Chancellor,” the statement read.
