Benchmark domestic equity indices ended with marginal gains in a range-bound trade on Thursday. The Sensex rose 143 points, or 0.17 per cent, to close at 82 thousand and one. Similarly, Nifty gained 33 points, or 0.13 per cent, to settle at 25 thousand 84. The broader market indices at the Bombay Stock Exchange ended on a muted note. The Mid-Cap index dipped over 0.1 per cent, and the Small-Cap index closed unchanged.
In the Sensex pack, 16 out of 30 companies closed down. Among the top laggards, Power Grid lost one and half per cent, Eternal dropped around one and half percent and Hindustan Unilever fell over one per cent. Among the top gainers, Bajaj Financial Services gained over 1.1 per cent, ICICI Bank advanced almost 1.1 per cent, and Bajaj Finance climbed 0.9 per cent.
In Sectoral indices at the BSE, 11 out of 21 sectors ended in positive territory. In top gainers, Healthcare was up by 0.6 per cent, Realty rose over 0.4 per cent, and Industrials advanced over 0.2 per cent. Among top laggards, Power lost more than 0.9 per cent, Utilities dropped over 0.6 per cent, and Services dipped over half a per cent. The overall market breadth at the BSE was positive as shares of 2,094 companies advanced, and shares of 2,000 companies declined, while shares of 154 companies remained unchanged.
