Mizoram Launches First Health ATMs Under 'Healthy Lunglei Initiative'

In a major step toward improving access to preventive healthcare, Mizoram has launched its first-ever Health ATMs under the "Healthy Lunglei Initiative." The digital health kiosks were inaugurated on Monday at Civil Hospital Lunglei and the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Lungsen, marking a significant milestone for the state’s healthcare system.
The Health ATMs, powered by Internet of Things (IoT) technology, provide free diagnostic services for up to 35 key health parameters. These include blood pressure, blood sugar, body mass index (BMI), electrocardiogram (ECG), lipid profile, vision and hearing tests, as well as mental health screenings for depression and anxiety. Test results are generated instantly and delivered directly to users’ mobile phones, helping create a digital health record for each individual—at no cost.
Speaking at the launch event, Mizoram's Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Lalrinpuii, hailed the innovation as a transformative step for public health delivery in the state.
“These are the first Health ATMs ever introduced in Mizoram. They will play a crucial role in making preventive healthcare more accessible and efficient, especially in remote areas,” the Minister said.
