Ultrasound Services Launched at Kailashahar Sub-Divisional Hospital

A long-standing demand of the people of Kailashahar has finally been fulfilled as ultrasound services were officially launched at the Kailashahar Sub-Divisional Hospital (RGM) on Thursday. The new facility is expected to benefit thousands across Unakoti district by improving access to diagnostic healthcare.
The service was inaugurated in a significant ceremony by Minister of Social Welfare and Social Education Tinku Roy. The event was attended by several dignitaries including Chairperson of Kailashahar Municipal Council Chapala Debroy, Vice Chairperson Nitish Dey, Chief Medical Officer of Unakoti District Dr. Shirshendu Chakma, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Biplab Das, and SDMO of RGM Hospital Dr. Papia Rudra Pal, among others.
Speaking at the event, Minister Tinku Roy said, “The people of Kailashahar have been demanding ultrasound services at RGM Hospital for a long time. After I assumed office, I took the matter up with Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, and we were able to make it a reality in a short span of time.”
The newly launched ultrasound service has been set up at a cost of approximately Rs 36 lakh. Currently, a specialist doctor from the Unakoti District Hospital will operate the service. However, the minister confirmed that a permanent doctor will be appointed in the future to manage the unit.
Following the inauguration, the minister and other guests visited the newly constructed ultrasound unit. Local residents expressed hope that the new facility will significantly enhance the quality of healthcare in the region.
