Vijay Deverakonda breaks silence after ED summons, clarifies endorsement of only legal gaming apps

Popular South Indian actor Vijay Deverakonda has issued a public statement following his recent summons by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with his association with online gaming platforms. The actor was reportedly questioned over his endorsements, as the ED continues its investigation into potential links between celebrity promotions and illegal betting operations.

Speaking to the media after the inquiry, Deverakonda firmly stated that he is only associated with legal gaming applications, and is fully aware of the difference between regulated online games and unlawful betting platforms.

“There is a clear distinction between legal online gaming and illegal betting. I have always ensured that I am endorsing only legitimate and compliant platforms,” the actor said, addressing growing public concern over celebrity involvement in the online gaming industry.

The ED’s probe has widened in recent months, summoning over two dozen film industry personalities from both Bollywood and South Indian cinema. Notable names such as Rana Daggubati and Sonu Sood have also been called in for questioning as authorities examine potential violations under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Vijay Deverakonda, known for his roles in films like Arjun Reddy and Liger, is among the most prominent figures to comment publicly on the issue. His clarification comes amid increasing scrutiny of celebrities promoting digital gaming apps, a sector that has drawn legal and ethical questions due to its rapid growth and ambiguous regulatory status in India.
