Over 200 trees planted in Ward 20 as Part of “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative

As part of the nationwide “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, Ward 20 Corporator Ratna Dutta led a large-scale tree plantation drive on Thursday, aiming to promote environmental awareness and urban greening.
The event saw the planting of over 200 saplings across various parts of the ward. In a symbolic gesture, saplings were also handed over to pedestrians and local residents, encouraging community participation in nurturing the environment.
“This initiative is not just about planting trees — it’s about honoring our mothers and our motherland,” said Corporator Ratna Dutta while addressing participants. “Each tree we plant today is a step towards a greener, healthier future.”
Residents, volunteers, and civic staff actively took part in the drive, making the event a success. The program highlighted the importance of environmental responsibility at the grassroots level and inspired many to take similar steps in their own neighborhoods.
The “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative, which translates to “One Tree in the Name of Mother,” has been gaining momentum across the country, encouraging citizens to plant and care for trees in honor of their mothers.
