Tripura Govt Increases Honorarium for Tribal Heads

In a major decision aimed at recognizing the contributions of tribal leaders, the Tripura government has increased the monthly honorarium for Pradhan Samajpatis (tribal heads) from Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced the decision on Thursday, stating that the move was approved by the State Cabinet as a mark of respect for the social and cultural leadership provided by Samajpatis in tribal communities.
"In a significant decision by the State Cabinet, the monthly honorarium for tribal community leaders (Samajpatis) has been increased from Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000," the Chief Minister wrote in a Facebook post.
He also added that, as per the newly approved amendment, government employees and pensioners who serve as Samajpatis will now be eligible to receive this enhanced honorarium.
"This decision reflects the government’s commitment to honoring the invaluable role and social contributions of the Samajpatis in the tribal communities," the post further stated.
The announcement has been welcomed by tribal organizations and community leaders, who see the move as a long-overdue recognition of the responsibilities and influence held by Samajpatis in maintaining traditional governance and harmony within their communities.
