Repeated adjournment of parliament due to opposition’s uproar over various issues

The Lok Sabha has been adjourned till 4 pm, while the Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 4:30 pm, following the opposition uproar over various issues. When the both houses reassembled at 2 pm to take up further business the opposition members continued with their protest following which both the houses were adjourned.

When the Rajya Sabha met after the first adjournment at noon, the opposition members again started sloganeering over various issues, demanding a discussion on the Special Intensive Revision of the electoral roll in Bihar.  Union Minister and Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha, J P Nadda, criticised the opposition for staging a walkout during the reply of Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the discussion on Operation Sindoor in the House yesterday. Mr Nadda said that during the discussion on the Mumbai terror attack in 2008, the then Home Minister and Prime Minister had replied. Mr Nadda also mentioned that during the Business Advisory Committee meeting, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had made it clear that it is the prerogative of the government to decide which Minister will speak and reply. He said the opposition parties had demanded a discussion on Operation Sindoor, but when the opportunity came, they chose to walk out without listening to the Home Minister’s reply. Mr Nadda said this shows the double-standard conduct of the opposition.
