Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee Participates in Key DoNER Consultative Committee Meeting


Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Rajib Bhattacharjee on Thursday participated in the Consultative Committee meeting of the Ministry for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), held at the Parliament House Annexe in New Delhi. The meeting was chaired by Union DoNER Minister Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia.

The central agenda of the session was the “Utilization of 10% Gross Budgetary Support (GBS) for the North Eastern Region (NER)”, a critical mechanism aimed at ensuring focused development in the northeastern states of India. The meeting facilitated an in-depth discussion on how this earmarked funding could be more effectively utilized to address regional challenges and accelerate growth.

During the session, committee members, including MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, exchanged views on the strategic deployment of resources for infrastructure development, connectivity enhancement, social welfare, and economic empowerment in the region. Bhattacharjee emphasized the importance of efficient fund allocation, timely project execution, and closer coordination between the Centre and state governments.

He also stressed the need to ensure that the benefits of central schemes and budgetary provisions reach the grassroots level, thereby promoting inclusive and sustainable development across the North East.

Minister Scindia reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to the region’s progress and highlighted recent initiatives undertaken to streamline funding mechanisms and improve monitoring of project outcomes.

The Consultative Committee plays a vital role in shaping policy direction and ensuring accountability in the implementation of government schemes. The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to further strengthen development efforts in the North Eastern Region, recognizing its strategic importance to India's overall growth trajectory.
