Biplab Kumar Deb meets Union Minister to Review Lighthouse Project in Tripura
Jul 24, 2025Member of Parliament from West Tripura and former Chief Minister of Tripura, Biplab Kumar Deb, met with Union Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs and Power, Manohar Lal Khattar, on Thursday to discuss the progress of the Lighthouse Project being implemented in the state.
During the meeting, Deb emphasized the importance of expediting the project’s completion and requested the allocation of additional central funds to ensure timely delivery. He highlighted the potential impact of the project, which aims to provide affordable housing to 1,000 families in Tripura.
The Lighthouse Project in Tripura is one of only six such flagship initiatives being undertaken across the country under the Global Housing Technology Challenge-India (GHTC-India). These projects are designed to showcase innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective construction technologies that can be replicated on a large scale.
Deb reaffirmed his commitment to improving urban infrastructure and ensuring better living conditions for the people of Tripura. He expressed confidence that with the Centre’s continued support, the project would be completed at the earliest to benefit thousands of citizens.
