Assam Rifles and Customs Department Seize Narcotics Worth Rs 14 Crore

In a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking, Assam Rifles in coordination with the Customs Department seized a large consignment of narcotics in Tripura's Khowai district on Monday.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the joint team conducted an operation in the Tuchandrai Bazar area, where they intercepted an Ashok Leyland truck bearing registration number TR‑01‑AR‑1754. A thorough search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of 1,40,000 Yaba tablets, estimated to be worth around ₹14 crore in the international market.
The truck driver was apprehended at the scene. Both the seized narcotics and the arrested individual have been handed over to the Customs Department for further investigation and legal action.
This operation highlights the increasing cooperation between central security forces and enforcement agencies in tackling the drug menace in Northeast India. Assam Rifles reaffirmed its commitment to curbing illegal activities and maintaining peace and security in the region through continued vigilance and joint efforts.
