Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Sunday emphasized that true education is not limited to textbook knowledge alone, but should also include social and national consciousness. He was speaking at a state-level felicitation ceremony organized by the School Education Department at Rabindra Bhavan, where schools achieving 100% pass results in the 2025 Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examinations were honored.
A total of 316 schools across the state recorded 100% pass results this year. Of these, 50 schools were symbolically felicitated during the ceremony. The Chief Minister handed over mementos and certificates of recognition to representatives of the schools and also unveiled a booklet highlighting the achievements of the School Education Department.
Dr. Saha stated that the success of any school fundamentally depends on the dedication of its teachers, the enthusiasm of its students, and a healthy learning environment. "Teachers play a pivotal role in shaping the lives of students. They are the true architects of society, capable of addressing students’ weaknesses and guiding them toward success," he said.
He urged students to be more focused on their studies and to set clear goals, stressing that both academic excellence and social responsibility are necessary for holistic development. “We must not be content with rote learning. Education must empower students to contribute meaningfully to societal change,” he added.
The Chief Minister also called for stronger cooperation among teachers, parents, and students, stating that only then will the government’s vision of quality education reach every corner of the state.
He also informed that in the 2024-25 financial year, teaching-learning materials (TLMs) have been procured for 378 schools, and significant investment has been made in school infrastructure: Rs 153 crore for the construction of new buildings in 44 schools, Rs 80.87 crore for infrastructure renovation in 346 schools. A further Rs 264 crore and Rs 151.21 crore have been earmarked for new construction and renovation, respectively, in 2025-26
Dr. Saha proudly declared that Tripura has recently been recognized as a fully literate state, becoming the third Indian state after Mizoram and Goa to achieve this distinction. He attributed this success to consistent efforts in strengthening both academic frameworks and community-level educational outreach.
