Tripura Assembly Budget Session Kicks Off with Governor’s Address
Justice Ashutosh Kumar Sworn In as Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court
Jul 21, 2025Justice Ashutosh Kumar was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court on Monday in a formal ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan. The oath of office was administered by Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya.
Justice Kumar brings with him a wealth of judicial experience, having previously served as a judge in the Patna High Court as well as the Delhi High Court. His appointment marks a significant addition to the judiciary of the northeastern region.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, senior judges, legal professionals, and state officials.
Taking to social media platform X, the Chief Minister extended his congratulations, writing, “Attended the oath-taking ceremony of Justice Ashutosh Kumar, who has been sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court. My best wishes for his tenure.”
