The holy month of Shravan, considered highly auspicious for Lord Shiva worship, began with great devotion in Agartala as large numbers of devotees thronged various Shiva temples across the city on the first Monday of the month.
From early morning, temples like Banamalipur Shiva Temple, the shrine near Jagannath Bari, and others in the city witnessed long queues of devotees offering jal abhishek, belpatra, and prayers to Lord Shiva, seeking blessings for their families, state, and country.
Wearing traditional attire and carrying water, milk, and other offerings, men, women, and children performed rituals with deep faith. Many observed fasts and prayed for peace, prosperity, good health, and overall well-being.
Temple authorities noted that the first Monday of Shravan typically sees one of the largest turnouts of devotees, second only to Maha Shivratri. Volunteers and police personnel were deployed at key temples to ensure crowd management and smooth conduct of rituals.
