Veteran Journalist Pradip Dutta Bhowmik Passes Away at 74

Veteran journalist and News Editor of Dainik Sambad, Pradip Dutta Bhowmik, passed away on Sunday at the age of 74. He breathed his last at around 3:45 PM at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, where he had been undergoing treatment for several days.
The news of his demise has cast a deep pall of sorrow over the media fraternity in Tripura. The Agartala Press Club, of which Bhowmik was a senior and active member, expressed profound grief and extended heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family.
With a journalism career spanning more than four decades, Bhowmik was known for his fearless reporting, editorial acumen, and unwavering dedication to the profession. He entered the field under the mentorship of his uncle, Bhupen Chandra Bhowmik, the founding editor of Dainik Sambad. Over the years, he rose through the ranks to become one of the most respected voices in regional journalism.
Bhowmik had been serving as the News Editor of Dainik Sambad since the 1990s and continued to lead editorial operations with diligence and integrity until his passing. Colleagues remember him as a humble and media-shy personality who always made time to guide and support both senior and budding journalists.
He is survived by his wife, one son, one daughter, and a wide circle of admirers and colleagues who cherished his wisdom and humility.
His mortal remains will be flown to Agartala from Delhi on Monday, where the final rites will be conducted.
In an official statement, the Agartala Press Club said: "We are deeply saddened by the untimely demise of our esteemed colleague. We pray for eternal peace for his departed soul and extend our deepest sympathies to his family during this difficult time."
