Over 150 Assam youths in touch with ISIS : IB

Guwahati , Jan 19, 2017 : Over 150 youths are in touch with Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). While ISIS threatened to conduct major terror attack in India from the country's soil, the document submitted by Intelligence Bureau (IB) to Union Home Ministry revealed that, over 150 youths from Assam are in touch with the terrorist group. A top source of IB said that, ISIS had already made its base in the north eastern Indian state with the help of some organizations."These overground organizations had worked for ISIS in Assam and these organizations were monetary helped from ISI," the top IB source said.

The IB source said that, an ISIS terrorist was apprehended in Assam last year."We have found vital clues that, Neo-JMB, MULTA, MTFA, Indian Mujahideen, SIMI like terror groups are jointly working with ISIS and trying to establish launching pads along the international bordering areas with North East India," the IB source said.The major issue was raised in the special security meeting held in Guwahati last week in presence of Assam DGP, the Union Home Secretary (NE), top officials of army, IB.

Meanwhile, a top official of Assam Police said that, ISIS is trying to establish their network in the state.Last year, more than 40 jihadis incuding 24 of JMB, six of MTFA were apprehended by the security forces from different areas of the state.The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday revealed that, the agency had arrested 112 people including 64 arrests were in cases related to jihadi terror in last year.The top security body had arrested 52 accused in 12 ISIS related cases.
