Assam police worried on raising of Songbijit's strength

Guwahati , Jan 05, 2017 : Assam Police and Intelligence agencies worried after former NDFB leader IK Songbijit raised his strength in Karbi Anglong district and some parts of northern Assam after forming a new outfit group People's Democratic Council of Karbi Longri(PDCK) last year in Myanmar.A top official of Assam Police said that, several cadres of NDFB had joined the new outfit group.

"Initially Songbijit Ingti Kathar, the detaching leader of NDFB, formed the PDCK looking eyes on Karbi Hills with his 60 fellows. But the new outfit group strength gradually grown up following few NDFB cadres joined it," the top police official said. "Following the intelligence inputs, we have alerted the concerned district police to launch massive operation against the Songbijit led militant group," the police official said.

The PDCK is also a associate member of the United Liberation Front of Western South East Asia comprising NSCN (K), Ulfa (I), Kamatapur Liberation Organization (KLO), NLFT, KCP. Recently, the PDCK, NLFT and KLO warned the hindi speaking people and bengali people to quit Kamatapur, Karbi Longri and Tripura before March 31.In a joint statement, the outfit groups said that, if else they will face a dangerous situation. Following the three militant groups threatened, Assam police has raised the security cover in such areas to prevent any untoward situation.
