Workshop on Government e-Market (GEM) held at Agartala

The Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Verma on Wednesday inaugurated a day-long workshop on Government e-Market (GEM) here at Agartala Town hall and said that this e-procurement portal for the sellers and buyers opened in 2019 by the PM Modi government at the centre keeping in mind the need of ease of doing business, transparency and efficiency.

“Digitization will be the only way for prosperity, transparency and development of the country in all fields,” Jishnu said, adding that the local traders, members of self-help groups, self-employed people will be able to promote their products in the national market through the GEM portal.

The Deputy Chief Minister urged the concerned department to take necessary initiatives to attract more local businessmen and get their names and products included in GEM. Presently, 540 businessmen of the state are currently associated with GEM.

Additional Secretary of Finance Department Akinchan Sarkar, Secretary Brijesh Pandey, GEM Nodal Officer Amardeep Gupta, Treasury Officer Harshita Biswas among others were present in the workshop.
