Arunachal Pradesh: Incessant rains since last two weeks create havoc across state

In Arunachal Pradesh, incessant rain since last two weeks have created havoc across the state. In East Siang District, the Mighty Siang River is causing massive erosion at Jarku near Pasighat Airfield and at Borguli, Seram, Kongkul, Namsing, Gadum and Mer villages on its left bank in lower Mebo area under the district.

As per Water Resource department report, surging water of Siang River has already washed away a boulder spar and a guide bund of 50-meter length at Jarku near Pasighat Airport. Meanwhile, East Siang district administration has alerted people living in riverbank to be watchful and may shift to a safer.

Incessant rains have also caused extensive damages at various places in West Siang District. The Yomgo river is reported to be flowing at danger level and has inundated paddy fields in low lying areas.

Communication links of many districts like Shi- Yomi, West Siang, Lepparada and Siang are also reported to have snapped at various places due to erosions and landslides triggered by heavy rain.
